Program 54-24 Arts Friday on Eastside Radio

Jazz Money launched her film WINHANGANHAat AGNSW in November last year. It’s a film born from a desire to make sense of the archival inheritances that shape our present realities. WINHANGANHA in Wiradjuri language translates as ‘Remember, know, think’.  The film is a lyrical journey of archival footage and sound, poetry and original composition commissioned by the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia (NFSA).   It is an examination of how archives and the legacies of collection affect First Nations people and wider Australia, as told by Jazz Money as she explains. The Sydney Poetry Picnic is a celebration of poetry. Now in its eighth year, is an acknowledgement of the efforts undertaken throughout the year by the conveners of poetry in forging poetry communities and developing support of the art form in Sydney and New South Wales. We hear from a few of the representatives on their events, Albert Lin, Defne, Peter Roads and Gillian Swain. Opera Australia opens this summer with Mozart’s  The Magic Flute. Tenor, Michael Smallwood is in Sydney for his Australian debut with Opera Australia the first time he has sung in the Sydney Opera House.

Produced and presented by Angela Stretch, from GADIGAL country, we acknowledge First Nations peoples as the sovereign custodians of Country, and pay respect to Elders of past, present and to future generations. We acknowledge and value the distinct culture, customs and practices present in the many and diverse tribal nations across NSW.
