Program 17-22 Arts Friday on Eastside Radio

The Sydney Chamber Opera’s (SCO) presents the Australian Premiere of Awakening Shadow, in a first Australian staging of Benjamin Britten’s five Canticles. Composed by Luke Styles, the work channels Britten’s crisis of faith through the singing body. Music director, and SCO’s Artistic Director, Jack Symonds talks us through the performance. The 12th annual Hidden Rookwood Sculpture exhibition returns with 60 creative artworks strategically placed within the largest necropolis in the Southern Hemisphere and the world’s largest remaining operating cemetery from the Victorian era. The curator Kath Fries shares her thoughts. Hear from three poets, Tatiana Bonch, Jonathan Cant and Les Wicks, recorded live at Pie in the Sky Poets, presented by Poetry Sydney, from Since I Left You.
